Riverside Fire Department Conducts Technical Rescue Following Electrocution Incident

RIVERSIDE, CA (LAI) – On February 9, 2024, the Riverside Fire Department was called to 5920 Jasmine Street in Riverside for a technical rescue operation. At approximately 3:35 PM, a report was received about an adult male who had been electrocuted and was impaled on a fence after falling from a roof. The incident occurred in the Ward 3 area of Riverside.

The victim, who had been working on a business’s roof, came into contact with live power lines and fell around 20 feet onto a rod iron fence, sustaining significant burns and injuries from the impalement. Upon arrival, firefighters found the man conscious and breathing.

The rescue operation involved the Riverside City Fire Technical Rescue Team and an additional engine company, focusing on safely removing the man from the fence. The Riverside Police Department provided on-scene assistance, and the patient was transported to a local trauma center in critical condition by AMR ambulance service.

A minor injury to a firefighter was reported during the operation. The Riverside Public Utilities and the Riverside Police Department were among the assisting agencies.
