Gunfire erupts on Southern California freeway; 1 person hospitalized

At least one person was rushed to the hospital after a shooting on a Southern California freeway Thursday afternoon, authorities confirmed to KTLA.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of the shooting on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Riverside just after 5:30 p.m., quickly followed by medical personnel with the Riverside Fire Department.

At the scene, authorities located a vehicle with two of its windows shot and a bullet hole through the back passenger door, according to reporting from OnScene.TV, a news video service.

The outlet also reported that one person was injured and taken to the hospital, though CHP officials told KTLA that it’s unclear if the person was suffering from a gunshot wound or another injury.

In a video of the shooting aftermath obtained by KTLA, bullet holes are clearly seen in the dark four-door sedan’s rear windshield and rear passenger side window.

Officers with the CHP were also seen scouring the eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway for evidence of the shooting.
