Three killed in multiple-vehicle crash on I-215 near University Parkway

A driver and two of her female passengers were killed when their Toyota Corolla was involved in a multi-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 215 in San Bernardino.

California Highway Patrol officials reported that at 11:26 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, a 2018 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on I-215, south of University Parkway at an unknown speed.

For reasons still under investigation, the Corolla veered onto the right shoulder of I-215 and crashed into the rear of a parked 2020 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck, authorities said.

The Corolla then veered left across all lanes where it collided with a 2010 Acura MDX traveling northbound on I-215, the CHP reported.

The Corolla became disabled in traffic lanes, then was stuck by a 2024 Ram 3500 truck traveling northbound on I-215 at an unknown speed, according to authorities.

A woman who was driving the Corolla and two female passengers suffered major injuries and died at the scene, the CHP said.

Their identities are being withheld while the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office notifies their next of kin.
