Santa Ana Corrections Officer Charged with Falsifying Jail Logs Linked to Inmate Suicide

A Santa Ana corrections officer faces felony charges for allegedly falsifying jail logs to cover up his lack of required safety checks on an inmate who committed suicide. Esteban Gonzalez, 39, from Chino, is accused of three counts of altering public documents while employed at the Santa Ana Detentions Facility in 2021. If convicted on all charges, Gonzalez could receive up to 6 years in state prison, as reported by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
