Temps in the 80s and 70s just around the corner for sweltering High Desert

After unseasonably warm start to October, high temperatures in the 70s and 80s are expected to return to the Victor Valley over the next week.

The heat will finally start to let up, according to National Weather Service officials on Tuesday, who added that temperatures will remain above average until they reach the 80s on Thursday.

Barstow will also continue to experience high temps in the 90s until Saturday when temps should drop into the 80s.

The long-range forecast expects high temperatures in the 70s returning on Monday to the Victor Valley.

Over the weekend, the Victor Valley endured highs in the upper 90s, with Victorville surpassing the 100-degree mark on Saturday. San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, and Ontario also experienced high temperatures in and near 100 degrees.

In Palm Springs, July was the hottest on record for any month, averaging 100 degrees. For the first time in October, the city also had a daily average of 100 degrees.
