CHP Task Force Shuts Down Organized Retail Crime Ring, Recovers $143,000 in Pilfered Goods

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Border Division’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force (ORCTF) has successfully dismantled a retail theft ring responsible for stealing more than $143,000 in merchandise. The investigation, involving four suspects, uncovered that the group, known as “boosters,” committed around ten thefts across Orange and Los Angeles counties between August 24 and September 27, 2024.

CHP investigators linked the stolen goods to two locations in Anaheim and Bloomington, leading to the execution of search warrants on October 14, 2024. The search resulted in the recovery of approximately $143,746 in stolen merchandise. All four suspects were arrested in Anaheim and booked into Orange County Jail. The case will be submitted to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

CHP’s Organized Retail Theft teams in Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Francisco continue to collaborate with retailers to combat sophisticated theft rings across California.
