Cops find parolee with ankle monitor, stolen mail ‘everywhere’ during Inland Empire traffic stop

Two people were arrested after police conducting a traffic stop found a stack of stolen mail and the female in the passenger seat wearing an ankle monitor in Upland early Thursday morning.

An officer observed a “suspicious vehicle” and pulled it over in the area of Aster Street and Palomino Avenue around 1:45 a.m., the Upland Police Department stated in a post on its Facebook page .

Police said a few red flags were quickly apparent including a phony paper license plate, “the female passenger sporting an ankle monitor” and a pile of stolen mail that kept the officer from being able to see the floorboards.

The officer also determined that neither of the vehicle’s occupants were living in the area and that the car hadn’t been registered since 2021.

“Both were arrested for identity theft, mail theft, narcotics, conspiracy, violating probation (for the female) and their vehicle towed,” police said.

The suspects were not identified but both were arrested and taken to jail.
