Yucaipa firefighters rescue dogs from storm drain

A dog rescue is the quintessential feel-good story. Luckily, Yucaipa has one to share.

According to CAL FIRE, a few Yucaipa firefighters and local police deputies saved three dogs trapped in a storm drain early Thursday morning in the 13000 block Pinewood Lane in Yucaipa. At 7:53 a.m. Jan. 2, a local resident discovered the dogs while walking their Labrador and immediately called 911.

Yucaipa firefighters from Station 3 responded along with Yucaipa Police Department. Law enforcement responded swiftly, removing the manhole cover and using harnesses to safely hoist the dogs out. It’s believed the dogs entered the drain from the nearby Wildwood Water Basin and got stuck…
