Lake Mathews in Alarm as Deputies Thwart Illegal Dumping, Two Suspects from Santa Ana Charged

On Friday night, the tranquility of Lake Mathews was disturbed by the roar of machinery as two dump trucks unloaded debris onto the scenic surroundings. At 9:52 p.m., after receiving a report of illegal dumping, deputies from the Lake Mathews Sheriff Station raced to the intersection of Lake Mathews Road and Estelle Mountain. There they found and stopped two dump trucks caught in the act. The drivers, now identified as 32-year-old Delfino Cervantes and 24-year-old Marcelo Lozada of Santa Ana, were subsequently arrested and charged with illegal dumping, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

Delfino Cervantes and Marcelo Lozada were taken to Robert Presley Detention Center, where they were booked for their crimes. Following the arrests, deputies worked alongside code enforcement officers to address the removal of the illegally dumped concrete and debris, as per the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
