SpaceX warns of possibility of sonic boom ahead of California launch

Southern Californians need not be alarmed on Tuesday if they hear a sonic boom, SpaceX warns.

The aerospace company said Falcon 9 is aiming to launch NASA’s TRACERS mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Tuesday. The launch window will open at 11:13 a.m. out of the Santa Barbara County base.

Roughly eight minutes after lifting off, the rocket’s first stage is slated to land at Vandenberg. When this occurs, there may be one or two sonic booms heard throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, SpaceX warns. That all depends on weather and other factors…
