Attempted murder suspect killed during shooting in Ivanhoe named

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The sheriff’s office has identified the attempted murder suspect who was shot and killed by a deputy earlier this month in Ivanhoe.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 32-year-old Rigoberto Lopez Jr. They say he was a documented gang member from Southern California, and he was convicted of murder in Woodlake and sentenced to Pleasant Valley State Prison.

He was paroled to the Sacramento area and later, in December 2024, the sheriff’s office says Lopez removed his state-mandated GPS ankle monitor and failed to report to his parole officer. A parole hold was issued and the U.S. Marshals Service accepted the case for his apprehension, deputies say…
