This new venture creates new avenues and opportunities in the region.
In a new episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards sat down with Iden Asato, the general manager of SRS Distribution’s first regional distribution centers. The center Iden manages, which is located in Southern California, serves 24 different SRS Building Products locations from Santa Barbara down to San Diego and everywhere between.
The establishment of this distribution center is incredibly beneficial for the local SRS Building Products locations in the area such as JB Wholesale and Roofline Supply. Iden explained, “We have a lot of branches within the Southern California region and a lot of these branches are in areas where their locations are very small, they don’t have a lot of warehouse or yard space. This distribution center was set up to frequently service and replenish these locations.” Prior to the establishment of the center, these locations had to frequently transfer equipment and products between each other, which slowed down their operations. Now, with the center established, each individual branch is able to operate more efficiently and better serve their customers.
For contractors in the region, having the center is a huge help to navigating the different product requirements and regulations in the area. Iden shared, “California already has some of the strictest building fire codes in the country, especially here in the LA area with Title 24… And we’re continuing to see those grow.” These growing regulations and trends mean that contractors are needing their local branches to help them find new products for siding and roofing that meet the demand. Iden explained, “I see a lot of roofing contractors moving into solar because there are requirements now where, when you get a new roof, you have to add solar… and we also see them branching out to other avenues, like siding and windows.” Thanks to the creation of the distribution center, the contractors branching out to new areas and products are able to get their supplies quickly and seamlessly…
