Extreme heat and thunderstorms will dominate the weekend in Southern California, adding to the risk of further wildfires.
In addition to the extreme heat forecast for the region, thunderstorms are forecast to make an appearance in the mountain regions and desert areas. While lightning from the storms could spark fires, rainfall could also lessen the danger.
The risk of more fires starting and growing is only expected to increase over the next few days, as near-record temperatures are forecast through the weekend, as well as monsoonal thunderstorms.
