Alleged Southern California Home Depot theft ring nabbed after $10M in merchandise stolen

Ventura County officials on Tuesday announced that nine people have been charged in what they’re calling the largest Home Depot theft case in the country.

Sheriff James Fryhoff told KTLA’s Annie Rose Ramos that the thieves took more than $10 million worth of merchandise from more than 70 Home Depot stores during more than 500 thefts in the past five or six months alone.

About $3.7 million in merchandise was recovered in raids earlier this month, but the rest of the stolen loot was likely sold, either to contractors or other businesses in cash or, in some cases, sold on Amazon or eBay…
