California train theft suspects nabbed with $375K in stolen goods: SBSD

Seventeen train burglary crew suspects were arrested after law enforcement discovered more than $375,000 worth of stolen BNSF merchandise and over $61,000 in cash after searches at three separate Southern California locations last week.

On Oct. 1, an investigation into recent train burglaries within the Victor Valley area led to search warrants being served at a residence in Hesperia, a residence in Victorville and a storage unit in Victorville, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office posted on Instagram.

Heperia Residence

Eleven suspects were arrested during a search warrant served in the 8800 block of Maple Avenue. Investigators also found and recovered numerous items stolen from train burglaries, including $54,442.79 in stolen property and about $19,200 in cash.

“Eleven suspects were arrested and subsequently booked on felony charges for possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime,” the Sheriff’s Department said.

Victorville Residence

Six more suspects were arrested when a second search warrant was served on the 14100 block of Anacapa Road. The operation resulted in the recovery of $133,867 of stolen property linked to the train burglaries and approximately $42,000 in U.S. currency…
