The ongoing federal government shutdown may affect CalFresh benefits for San Bernardino County residents in November 2025. Funding for CalFresh is available through October 2025, but future distributions are uncertain if the shutdown continues. CalWORKs and Medi-Cal benefits are not expected to be affected at this time, though delays are possible if the shutdown lasts longer.
The San Bernardino County Transitional Assistance Department (TAD) is providing updates to the community. CalFresh recipients can call the TAD Customer Service Center at 877-410-8829 for assistance and information. Special hours are available on Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The department is also referring residents to local food distribution sites as needed.
If there are delays in CalFresh benefits, participants will receive a formal notice from the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) before November 1. Receiving this notice does not mean a case is closed or that eligibility has ended.
