Man killed after loose tire crashes into car on Riverside County freeway

A driver was killed and a passenger was hospitalized after a loose tire crashed into their vehicle on a Riverside County freeway.

On Nov. 17, California Highway Patrol responded to a crash on the westbound 60 Freeway, just west of Jack Rabbit Trail, in the San Gorgonio Pass area around 11:12 a.m.

An investigation revealed that a 54-year-old Riverside man was driving a BMW 328i sedan on the eastbound lanes when the vehicle’s left rear tire suddenly detached and became airborne…
