False alarm: Southern California water OK to drink, city says

They city of Ventura is backtracking after what they described as a “false positive” incorrectly indicated there was gasoline in some residents’ water supply.

At about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, officials said in an alert that the previous alert was “caused by a false positive during routine testing.”

“Follow-up testing on multiple additional samples has confirmed that your water is safe,” they added. “There is no contamination, and it is safe to drink, cook with, bathe in, and use for hand washing.”…
