San Bernardino County Residents Can Access California State Parks for Free with Library Card

Residents of San Bernardino County now have free day-use access to more than 200 California State Parks. This is possible through a partnership between the San Bernardino County Library, the California State Library, and California State Parks. Residents can use their library card to borrow a California State Library Parks Pass from any participating County Library branch. The pass allows entry for one vehicle and its occupants. This makes it possible for families and groups to visit hiking trails, beaches, historic sites, and nature preserves without paying an entry fee.

County Librarian Melanie Orosco said the program adds value to the library card by providing access to outdoor spaces. She encourages households to use the passes, noting that they are free and available to all library card holders.

To borrow a pass, residents should visit a County Library branch, check out a State Library Parks Pass with their library card, and return the pass after use. The library also recommends using educational materials, such as nature guides and wildlife books, to enhance park visits…
