Woman used fentanyl to poison man in Southern California desert, sheriff says

A woman in San Bernardino County is in custody for attempting to poison a man she had previously been in a relationship with to death, investigators said.

In a news release, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said deputies responded to the 22200 block of National Trails Highway in Oro Grande, an unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert, on Dec. 12 around 7:45 a.m.

Investigators said that the older adult male victim claimed he had been poisoned with fentanyl in October and only became aware of the fact during an argument with the suspect, 47-year-old Kristy Oliphant, a resident of Oro Grande.

“During the investigation, deputies learned the victim had been in a relationship with the suspect,” the release noted. “Oliphant went to his residence and administered fentanyl and oxycodone without his knowledge.”
