Gunfire outside Southern California mall leaves 14-year-old girl in unknown condition

A 14-year-old girl was shot and hospitalized in unknown condition after an altercation at a Southern California mall ended in gunfire, authorities said Wednesday.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies were called to Victor Valley Mall shortly after 5 p.m. Monday following reports of a large group of people, possibly minors, involved in a fight.

“Upon arrival, deputies observed that the group was not physically fighting but engaged in a verbal altercation,” the sheriff’s department said. Mall security helped deputies separate the participants; however, the verbal arguments continued as the group was leaving the area…
