Residents in some of Southern California’s recent burn scar areas will be under flood watches and evacuation warnings and orders Tuesday morning as they prepare for the arrival of a powerful holiday storm.
The warnings began at 11 a.m. Tuesday and will continue through 11 p.m. Thursday for most areas within the Palisades, Sunset and Hurst burn scar zones, according to the Los Angeles Emergency Management Department website. Authorities have been going door to door to issue evacuation orders for especially vulnerable addresses.
“Currently, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has a total of 124 evacuation orders in place … All properties were door-knocked, and those that didn’t answer, given a door hanger,” Sheriff Robert Luna said during a Tuesday morning news conference. “These evacuation orders are made with your safety in mind, as they help protect you and your loved ones from potential danger.” Luna also warned residents who fail to leave when ordered to evacuate that they are putting their lives and their families’ lives in danger…
