SoCal Christmas storm breaks rainfall records, and it’s not quite over yet

The Christmas storm that pounded Southern California set new daily rainfall records around the region. More showers are forecast, but the worst of the storm has moved out.

Among the new daily rainfall records set Wednesday: Los Angeles International Airport, 1.88 inches; Burbank Airport, 3.39 inches; Woodland Hills, 3.96 inches; Oxnard, 3.33 inches; Santa Barbara, 3.31 inches; and Anaheim, 1.87 inches.

The so-called Pineapple Express was forecast to be the strongest atmospheric river storm to hit Southern California in nearly two years, National Weather Service meteorologist Rose Schoenfeld said. The biggest part of the storm exited by early Thursday. But scattered showers are expected to continue Thursday along with flood and slide risks. On Friday and Saturday, there will still be a chance for additional showers while conditions will generally be clearing. The rain should be gone by the weekend…
