The incident unfolded on Friday night around 6:45 p.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, who disclosed in a media release that deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 31000 block of Sunflower Way for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arriving at the scene, a neighborhood near Pechanga Parkway and Loma Linda Road, deputies located an adult female victim with an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene; authorities will not be releasing her name until her next of kin is notified.
During their investigation, officials said they were able to identify the suspect as 31-year-old Nicaela Hernandez, a resident of Temecula. She was taken into custody and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for murder, Riverside sheriff’s deputies said.
