Child carried to safety after vehicles stuck in Southern California floodwaters

A small child and two adults were rescued in Southern California after two vehicles became stuck in floodwaters on New Year’s Day.

San Bernardino County firefighters responded around 1 p.m. to a flooded roadway on Orchid Avenue in Hesperia, where they found two disabled pickup trucks.

Video showed thick mud and water reaching the trucks’ axles after the drivers attempted to cross the flooded area.

One firefighter carried a small child to safety while other rescuers escorted a man and a woman from their vehicles…
