(NewsNation) — Three hikers were found dead by rescue crews on a mountain in Southern California, officials confirmed this week.
Authorities responded to the Devil’s Backbone area of Mt. Baldy on Monday after Marcus Alexander Muench Casanova, 19, reportedly fell about 500 feet while hiking, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
A search and rescue team was deployed to the area around 11:30 a.m. after Casanova’s hiking companion witnessed the fall and called for help.
