SUV plunges 100 feet off Southern California overpass; at least 1 dead

At least one person died after an SUV careened off a freeway overpass in the Inland Empire, authorities say.

A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol’s Inland Division confirmed to KTLA that a Chevrolet Suburban traveling westbound on the 210 Freeway plunged over 100 feet down an embankment at the interchange with the 215 Freeway in San Bernardino. There is a neighborhood with several homes close to the crash site.

CHP’s incident log indicates the crash occurred around 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

According to the spokesperson, bystanders rushed to help as first responders rushed to the scene. At least one person, said to be the driver of the Suburban, was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where they were pronounced deceased…
