Construction begins on the Redlands Mall

After years of idleness and vacancy, construction has finally begun on the Redlands Mall. The mall property was recently purchased in November by Esri co-founders Jack and Laura Dangermond.

Construction crews were seen on the site of the mall last week on Monday, Jan. 12. Crews were there to begin cleaning the site on the interior and the exterior in preparation for the dismantling of the existing building. The initial construction is believed to be for the installment of fencing around the site for the first few months. Access to the local businesses, parking lots and CVS are expected to remain available to the public during the construction period.

The purchase was made by the Dangermond’s themselves and not by their company Esri. The exact price of the purchase is $15.75 million and the transaction was cited on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025. With the Dangermond’s purchase, they will become the sixth owner of the property over the last 20 years.
