Federal officials close treacherous California mountain again

Mount Baldy, Southern California’s massive, deadly peak, will be closed to the public for the next two weeks, officials for the Angeles National Forest announced on Tuesday.

“The purpose of the closure is to provide for public safety due to upcoming winter storms,” wrote Angeles National Forest in a Facebook post. The closure is slated to last through Feb. 23 and includes the trails leading to the 10,064-foot peak (Mt. Baldy Trail, Mt. Baldy Bowl Trail and Devil’s Backbone Trail), along with other trails in the area, such as Icehouse Canyon, Ontario Peak, the Three T’s Trail and Chapman Trail.
