Amid recent headlines about refinery closures in California spiking gas prices to a “new milage tax” comes a welcome, temporary reprieve for motorists: 40 cents off every gallon at Circle K.
The gas station and convenience store chain, which has over 200 locations in Southern California, is offering up the deal on Thursday, Feb. 12, right in time for any Valentine’s Day weekend travel.
It comes amid a backdrop of California’s long battle with higher than national averages of gas prices and potential new challenges: the closing of the Phillips 66 refinery in Wilmington, and Valero’s plans to idle its Benicia refinery later this year. Over 200 workers will be laid off in March at the Bay Area refinery, according to state filings.
