Thousands of slimy, little fish could wash ashore in Southern California

Thousands of silvery fish called grunion could wash up at beaches in Southern California next week, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced.

The beaching is part of the species’ life cycle. Grunions wash ashore on spring evenings during full and new moons to breed in the wet beach sand.

The annual breeding happens at beaches south of Point Conception in Santa Barbara County to Baja California…
