The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for the Salton Sea area starting Wednesday, March 13, and continuing through Sunday, March 22. The alert covers parts of southwest Arizona and southeast and southern California.
Afternoon highs are expected to reach between 103 and 108 degrees. Residents are urged to take precautions, such as limiting outdoor activity, wearing light clothing, and drinking plenty of water.
