During the March 4 city council meeting, San Bernardino was presented with a $100,000 ceremonial check from San Bernardino County Supervisor Joe Baca Jr. to assist the San Bernardino Police Department with the purchase of a Robotic Police K9 unit.
The funding from San Bernardino County will help the Police Department acquire the robotic platform, which allows officers to remotely assess potential high-risk situations before officers are required to enter potentially dangerous locations. The technology can be deployed during incidents involving armed suspects, barricaded individuals, and potential explosive or hazardous devices, providing officers with real-time video, audio, and environmental information.
