ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Exposure to even moderate levels of air pollution may cause heart damage, according to one of the largest studies to date published in the journal Radiology.
Researchers analyzed over 11,000 adults who underwent cardiac CT exams between 2012 and 2023 in Canada. The findings suggest even levels of air pollution below or near regulatory standards are associated with early signs of heart disease, often before symptoms appear.
