Glade Hill firefighter recovering after oak beam falls on him

FRANLKIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A Glade Hill firefighter is recovering after an oak beam fell on him Monday, June 15, according to Franklin County Fire and EMS.

A 911 call came into the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 7:16 a.m. for the report of a structure fire in the Fork Mountain area.

Fork Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, Rocky Mount Fire Department, Glade Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Callaway Volunteer Fire Department, Boones Mill Volunteer Fire/EMS, Henry Volunteer Fire Department, Snow Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Ferrum Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist with firefighting operations and water hauling.

Franklin County Fire & EMS was also on scene and began fire operations when a call came over the radio shortly after for a partial building collapse as well as an injured firefighter. The injured firefighter was identified as Jeremy Parker with Glade Hill Fire Department…
