SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) – The largest free-entry fair in the country, the Salem Fair is now over. Last year, organizers said weather made it difficult, and this year, it’s the same story.
From extreme heat advisories to storms and showers, weather struck again to close out the 38th annual Salem Fair. But organizers say the rain didn’t stop fairgoers from experiencing the fun.
“It’s surprising the number of people when I walk by the main gate that are standing in the pouring rain buying wristbands,” Salem Fair Manager Carey Harveycutter said. “One lady said that, ‘look, I told the kids we were coming to the fair and this is the first time we could come. And so we’re out. We’re getting wet, but we’re having fun.’”…
