Salem Fair wraps up after helping community organizations

SALEM, Va. (WDBJ/City of Salem Release) – Salem Fair officials say the 2026 fair will be remembered “for its record-breaking temperatures and several days of pop-up storms, but it also will be known for its ability to assist area non-profit organizations.”

“I have been doing this since we started the fair in 1988 and this was by far the hottest weather we have ever experienced, said Carey Harveycutter, Salem Fair Manager. “That being said, we still had plenty of people on the midway enjoying the rides and concessions and I couldn’t be prouder of the generosity at the gate.”

Fair officials say, “Thanks to an abundance of charitable giving from fair patrons, the Salem-Roanoke County Food Pantry, the Rescue Mission, Mrs. Dorsey’s Clothes Closet, and the Salem Educational Foundation all benefitted from the fair’s 12-day run at the Taliaferro Complex…
