FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Deputies were involved in a police chase and apprehended a Rocky Mount man with the help of the Office’s K9 Monday evening, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, 38-year-old Ricky Lee Dawson was arrested and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors, which included:
- Disregarding The Command From Police To Stop
- Weapons & Ammunition Violations By A Convicted Felon With A Protective Order In Place
- Possession of Burglarious Tools
- Disorderly Conduct
- Speeding Over 20 Miles Per Hour
Deputies received word of a 911 call July 13, 2026, in reference to a person who had threatened to shoot somebody at a home in the Doe Run area of Franklin County. However, the person had run from the scene, according to investigators.
Personnel responded to the area and found a vehicle that matched the description as described by dispatch; they attempted to pull over the vehicle before Dawson sped away, leading to a police chase, deputies allege.
Deputies also said once Dawson stopped the vehicle, he ran out to escape the scene, only for deputies to have their K9 apprehend him…
