A gusty squall line knocked power out to nearly 115,000 utility customers in western and central Virginia on Monday afternoon.
Power outages were greatest along the Blue Ridge and westward as far west and south as the Roanoke Valley and Franklin County. Albermarle County reported over 16,000 customers without power as of 7 p.m. Monday, according to utility data aggregator poweroutage.us. The city of Lynchburg had more than 7,000.
Other localities reporting between 1,500 and 6,000 without power included the city of Roanoke and the counties of Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Bedford, Buckingham, Franklin, Nelson, Roanoke, Rockbridge and Rockingham…
