ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Tuesday marked the official start of the new school year for thousands of students across Roanoke City Public Schools. But for one top administrator, the day is a bittersweet milestone. Superintendent Dr. Verletta White greeted students Tuesday morning for her final first day of school before her retirement next June.
WDBJ7 spent the morning at Wasena Elementary School, seeing how classrooms are gearing up for the year ahead.
