Bedford County, Va., Targets Universal Broadband Coverage

(TNS) — Bedford County has authorized a contract with ZiTEL, an Internet service provider, to complete the Broadband 2026 New London Project as part of a push to achieve universal wireless Internet coverage countywide.

ZiTEL is based in Bedford County and has performed extensive fiber broadband work in the county. John Putney, government relations manager for Bedford County, gave a report to the county board of supervisors on Tuesday about the challenges in the project, including delays caused by a previous Internet service provider (ISP), RiverStreet Networks, not completing the New London project as contracted.
