Roanoke Area Faces Storm Threat Saturday Evening Before a Weekend Clear-Out

Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible across the Roanoke region through Saturday evening and into the early overnight hours, with forecasters warning that some storms could turn strong to severe.

According to WFXR’s Pinpoint Weather team, damaging wind gusts are the primary concern. The area west of the Blue Ridge carries the highest exposure under a Level 2 threat designation.

The risk is not region-wide. Areas east of the Blue Ridge face a lower threat profile, while communities to the west should be most prepared for the stronger storm activity during the evening hours.
