ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – The Melrose Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist Church hosted a free community health fair Sunday. Neighbors connected with local resources and picked up free food and clothes.
Pastor says relationships matter
Charles Brooks is the pastor of the Melrose Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He has lived in Roanoke since the pandemic. Brooks said bringing the health fair to the city was a simple task rooted in a mission of being healthy and building relationships.
“The most important thing may not only be what’s underneath these tents, these tables, these eight health laws, and the resources,” Brooks said. “It might be just a recognized face, an extended hand, a name remembered, a story, a life story verified, and accepted without judgment.”
