The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded $114,455 in grants to two adaptive sports programs in Virginia, including one in Roanoke.
The funding is part of $16 million in grants that were awarded to 91 organizations across the country to support adaptive sports programs for Veterans and active-duty service members. The programs feature activities such as archery, skiing, cycling, wheelchair softball, hunting, fishing, and more. The goal is to help the rehabilitation process for Veterans through recreation.
“Through this funding, we’re strengthening access to adaptive sports programs that make life-changing differences in the lives of Southwest Virginia Veterans,” said Salem VA Health Care System Director, Tammy Snyder. “This support expands opportunities for Veterans with disabilities to stay active, build confidence, and connect with others through recreation and competition.”…
