Virginia Tech’s bowl projections have potential juicy matchups against SEC powerhouses

Following a 20-16 upset win at Clemson on Saturday night, the Virginia Tech football team improved to 6-2 and officially became bowl-eligible. According to first-year Hokies coach James Franklin, that is what is going to be expected every season, ending with a bowl game.

  • Sports Illustrated: Gator Bowl vs. Houston
  • Athlon Sports: Gator Bowl vs. Florida
  • CBS Sports: Gator Bowl vs. South Carolina
  • ESPN: Kyle Bonagura: Sun Bowl vs. Arizona & Mark Schlabach: Gator Bowl vs. Tennessee

However, a matchup against an SEC school, regardless of who opts out and who plays, would be a good first-year measuring stick for Franklin and the Hokies…
