The homeless in the Roanoke Valley will soon have a new day shelter

The Ram House has a new building

After more than 50 years in the same location, the RAM House (Roanoke Area Ministries) will have a new home according to News 10. The homeless day shelter will move from 8th Street and Campbell Ave SW about a half mile East to 410 Elm Ave SW.

The RAM house has been a blessing for those who have nowhere to go during the day after leaving the Roanoke Rescue Mission. The new facility will allow the organization to offer more assistance to those in need. WDBJ 7 reports that services for mental health and substance abuse will be expanded and there will also be showers installed.

The new building will be known as the Jain Center in honor of the Jain family whose donation made the new location possible.
