Local Colors is preparing for the 2024 festival

Local Colors is preparing for its annual festival that will take place on Friday, May 18, from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM in Elmwood Park in Downtown Roanoke, VA. This year the Roanoke Valley Sister Cities will be hosting a delegation from Wonju, South Korea who will visit the Star City.

The mayor of Wonju will be speaking along with other representatives from the city. In 2023 Wonju Mayor Won Kang-su fought to have the title of the horror film Chiaksan changed so it would not hurt the local area and lead to cop cats per the Korea Herald.

There will be performance groups at Local Colors demonstrating contemporary and traditional dances of South Korea, and K-Pop (Korean Popular Music) will be included thsi year. The children’s area will offer activities that also focus on the featured country. Applications will be taken until April 12th for vendors and performers.
