The Roanoke police chase on Friday took place on Hackley Avenue, not Hacklet Street

What’s in a name?

A Police chase in Roanoke on Friday was incorrectly reported by WFXR as taking place on Hacklet St. in the city. For the record, there is no Hacklet listed in the Star City.

According to the department, on Feb. 2, officers were attempting to serve search warrants on a man when he was located in the 300 block of Hacklet Avenue NW. Police said the man saw officers and immediately fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

Correct information makes a difference

Typ-O’s happen and we all make them but when danger lurks citizens need the correct information so they will know what neighborhood to avoid when there is trouble. The incident began in the 300 block of Hackley Ave. NW which is a 2 block area near Hill Street Baptist Church and between Madison and McDowell Avenues.

The homes on Hackley are duplexes that were built after urban renewal for the disabled and the elderly. A Google maps image of Hackley is also incorrect as it shows Madison Ave and Hill Street Church. You have to keep scrolling to find the actual street and the images are not very clear.
