Judge Onzlee Ware dodges a bullit
The Roanoke Rambler has an update about Judge Onzlee Ware. Last week they reported that the Judge was not serving on the bench but was still getting paid after allegations he had inappropriate relations with the mother of a client. (The Roanoke Times). No one had seen Ware at the time but Virginia Lawlike says a judge may be suspended with pay when in a situation as Judge Ware was.
The Circuit Court Judge will be monitored for 12 months by a state watchdog group. According to a January 23 letter from the Judicial Inquiry and Review Commission that was RR obtained Ware admitted that he did have a relationship with Grace Church while her son Timothy Church was his client. Ware said it was mutual and voluntary.
Not have credible evidence to convict Ware
The Commission did not have credible evidence and could not prove that the relationship was a quid-pro-quo arrangement. was anything more than two consenting adults.
The Commission suspended Ware at some point between August and January while the investigation was taking place.The letter notes that JIRC’s order of suspension for Judge Ware has been terminated as part of the terms agreed to between the two parties.
