Christina Sumner of Roanoke, Virginia, had a harrowing experience during a routine rental car pickup from Enterprise on February 2nd.
What began as a typical transaction turned terrifying when Sumner discovered a loaded firearm tucked behind the driver’s seat, just inches from her child’s car seat.
“We are very sorry this happened and are working to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” Enterprise told WDBJ 7 News in a statement. “We have been in contact with the renter since the incident occurred, and we are working with her to come to a satisfactory resolution.”
Sumner, grateful her 4-year-old daughter wasn’t present, emphasized the potential dangers posed by the oversight and quickly notified authorities to avert a potentially tragic scenario.
The incident, reported by WDBJ 7 News, highlights the importance of thorough vehicle inspections before hitting the road and serves as a cautionary tale for all renters.
“They had to send an officer out, and the female officer went right to where it was located; it was a fully loaded clip,” Sumner said in an interview.
